Tree of Delights was created by my wife and myself as a personal game jam. We focused on keeping a small scope with a simple enjoyable experience. It was built using Flixel and integrates multiple portal APIs and highscores.
In the game, the player must collect assorted foods that sprout from the tall tree. There are various obstacles such as animals, fog, and wind impeding the player's upward progression. There are multiple simple endings depending on the types of food collected. Higher up foods are worth more points than lower ones, and the faster the player collects the food, the better the score at the end.
The design idea stemmed largely from our own food cravings. Having lived abroad for nearly two years, we have been unable to eat many of our favorite foods. So a tree that produces delicious foods is a glorious dream to us.
